The History page mentions that :

The first Calcutta Mint was established in 1759-60 whose site is not known.  ;D

In section 'Job opportunities', following text appears :

No data found.  ;D

Well maintained, must say!  :D

Presently the Kolkata Mint is producing coins of following denominations:

     > Rupees 5 of Cupro Nickel    from 1992
     > Rupees 2 of Cupro Nickel    from 1990
     > Rupee 1 of Ferritic Stainless Steel    from 1992
     > 50 paise of Ferritic Stainless Steel    from 1988
     > 25 paise of Ferritic Stainless Steel    from 1988
The 10 paise new coin of Ferritic Stainless Steel was in production from 1988 but discontinued after.

they make 25 paise coins when the govt does not allow it and they are still making cupro nickle coins truly the best mint of india

I tried getting in, just to see if I could. It worked. Had a bit of a laugh that the software insisted on a "state" (there aren't any in this country) and an Indian "pin code" (four numbers, two letters in the Netherlands, five numbers in India,) although adresses can be anywhere in the world. In spite of the dire warnings, you can take a job in another organisation. Once you are logged in, you see a button "update details".

Though you never know, I don't intend to order. I wanted to try the procedure. I had a scan of my daughter's passport handy. She looks a lot like me :D and due to the complicated safety features you don't see much of the photo anyway.

BTW, I like their banners, but had to grin when the banner on the Kolkata web site showed coins that were clearly not minted in India, like a Paris mint brass coin of the early 1920's.

Sorry, it's over. Kolkata mint sent me a mail saying:

Thank you for registering with http://igmkolkata.spmcil.com. Sign in to explore and buy different commemorative coins issued from Security Printing & Minting Corporation of India Ltd., wholly owned by Government of India).Kindly note down Login ID (your valid email account) and Password mentioned below for future correspondence:

(...)

You are requested to please change your password immediately after receiving this e-mail.

However, the site didn't let me in when I used the (correct) login name and password mentioned in the mail, so I can't change the password either. I am not interested enough to try again from scratch, sorry.

BTW, if the password you make at registration is temporary only, why make a fuss on how many signs the password is, capitalization and alphanumerics?

Dear Peter

I also explored the new website of Kolkata mint few days back. It was not accepting the password. I understand that they are in the process of renovating their website. The task has not been completed yet. Its in live beta (testing) phase now. Please have patience. I hope all the glitches will be removed shortly.

I understand that once functional, you can upload details of your non credit card payment (i.e DD) on website to generate instant booking number.
