1995 one rupee note
« on: February 13, 2011, 02:22:01 AM »
This is story of single one rupee note signed by then Finance secretary M S Ahluwalia issued in 1995. According to reference books the last note of rupee one was issued in 1994. This 1995 single note was listed on eBay India: 1 Rs. note 1995 (item 130482640673 end time 10-Feb-2011 23:41:50 IST) and sold for Rs 251,000! Can some one comment on this? Good example of hobby converting into business.

1964 Bhoothlingam one rupee note is different story. This note was available for 600 rupees about 15 years ago. And to my knowledge 1964 note never crossed one lakh for single note. 1995 one rupee note of Ahluwalia surpassed all records of notes issued after independence. Can any body throw light whether one rupee note was issued in 1995 and what is the highest sale of one rupee single note of post independence?

E-bay India is becoming a paradise for frauds. I wonder how one can place a bid of 2.51 Lakh for an item which is being sold by a seller having just one positive feedback (that too for a (probably) fake East India banknote with eagle which was sold for 33.83k :o)

I don't know if the note listed is genuine or not but the seller's intentions are not looking good. No item description at-all, bad quality scans..What the heck is this?  >:(
