..........However it does strike me now that the English legend is way bigger than the one in hindi

Dear Prosit

Second India is a part of centenary logo. It is to make clear that 2010 denotes centenary years of civil aviation ONLY in India. Wright brothers flew their plane for the first time in 1903. Therefore, worldwide, centenary of first flight was in 2003.

Regarding the logo,

It is occasionally tweaked to suit the coins. There are many instances in recent past. 2-3 come to my mind:
A) Commonwealth Games
B) CAG
c) Civil Aviation

Were they actually the first?  I never knew for sure.  I knew they were first in US.

The USA tends to write history from its own viepoint...I guess most countries do.
They would tend to overlook any predecessors if the events were close.  Those books are the ones I studied in school, I
learned early on they were US-Centrict in viewpoint.

I think 100 yrs for Civil Aviation and not just for Aviation invention as such. A google search helped me to confirm that.

Add modifiers to score more records. I don't begrudge anyone any "world's first x", but can't get excited over them either. BTW, Ceasar's "De Bello Gallico" is reckoned to be pretty Roman-centric. :)

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Bimat

Both quality and the design are good I'd say this time..No wonder they are from Mumbai mint. ;)

Generally when newly released coin is listed on eBay, it takes 1-2 weeks to get them into circulation. Now that it's been listed by multiple people, let's wait for couple of weeks to get lucky. ;D
