.

The Govt is soon planned to release a coin on 100 years of Civil Aviation.

It is a shame that no representative of the TATA family who were the pioneers of Civil aviation in India find a place on the panel.

Also the civil aviation minister is no longer Praful Patel.

The article is old (dated January 17), so at that time Mr. Praful Patel was the civil aviation minister..

Nice event to commemorate, but I hope they will not mess up with the design part  ::)

well the stamps have already been released.  The autographed cover was selling for Rs 5000 issue price.  lets see what coins fall on our heads.

Here we have dedicated thread for Indipex 2011 where these stamps , FDC & Miniature sheets were posted about 100 years of Airmail.

Cheers ;D

Some of the members may enjoy this coin  :D It has same theme as Indian coin.

In 2009, Slovenia issued a circulating (legal tender only in Slovenia) €3 coin commemorating 100 years of aviation in Slovenia (First flight by Edward Rusjan).

Here's the image:

very nice.  Thanks  ;D

Good lateral thinking, Aditya. Let's see what te Indian mints make of the theme. Maybe someone will even start a thread on air travel and coins :)

have you seen the 2007 coin they will just tweak it and hey presto you will have your new coins  ::)

60 years of commonwealth was a disgrace and were the CWG designs i am not hoping for any miracles  ;D

Here's the official logo... by past experience they may use it...though i wonder whether they would have to tweak it given that there is a lot of details in it

odds are they might not even tweak it and calcutta mint will give it a full strike so you wont be able to see the aeroplane on the coin  ;D  you will see the 100 and think its a 100 Rs coin  ;D

Bimat

If it's a 5 rupees commemorative, then there's very little space to show some design. If it's a bimetallic tenner (very unlikely), then we can expect some design..

Its not necessary that they will use the same logo on coin.

Logo of 75 years of RBI was complicated so they repeated the theme of 50 years of RBI on coins

Coinsforever

It is too early to speculate about design , it would be hypothetical to comment for design of such coins which are usually politically inspired approvals (like for symbol of rupees)

Who knows it will be another cold storage coin like "Commonwealth games" commemorative.

Cheers ;D

They repeated the 60 years of commonwealth design as well.

They could have hired an artist and come up with an original thought.  I find it really amusing that they cant think for themselves and come up with poor excuses.
