Or maybe you can get it in a trade, Aditya?

Peter
An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

I already have them, please read reply# 66. :)

I think all the pieces have gone now, few reserved for my trader friends, and remaining for asm, and beekar..

In fact, on my recent visit to Delhi and back, I was able to collect 9 more coins, which I have distributed to my friends. It seems that the Toll Tax Booths have got plenty of coins from RBI to distribute them to the Public.

aditya, its also available at thana/vashi toll pt. :)
Btw has anyone seen the 2inr variant?

Bimat

I use only one vehicle for travelling-Train! So no toll thingy there ;D (Have to get pass once in a quarter, but I always pay exact amount).

I usually don't deal with coins much-only at canteen (the guy has bags of nickel brass 5 rupees, regular issue) and for rickshaw (but never get anything nice in change)..

Rs 5 and Re 1 seem to have been spotted with some regularity now. Any signs of the other denominations?

In fact, I have found many new 5 Rupee coins in circulation in Delhi, particularly with the CHAAT wallas and food shops. Recently, I got one 5 rupee coin of 60 years of Comonwealth. I also found one dealer selling these coins for Rs. 50 each in Daryagunj Sunday market. When I told him that many of these coins can be found in circulation, he was not ready to believe me.

Forget him, even I would not believe it but I have agree that these coins do regularly circulate in Delhi since every time I am in Delhi, Overlord helps me with a few (quite often more than a few) commemoratives. He keeps them for me (as he does not collect them) and gives them to me. My taxi driver (whose services I have been using for over 10 years now) too helps me regularly. However, In Ahmedabad, I have got just 1 commemorative from circulation in the past 6 monts or may be more.
