The five listed above have all been reported.

Interesting,
If one searches ebay there are currently 405 Olympic 50p listed for sale,
the only examples of those five designs are in packs, plenty of the other designs loose, but not those.
Odd.

Good luck yesterday, we can now add Wheelchair Rugby to the list of those in circulation.

Even better luck, a 2008 £2 Beijing-London Olympic Handover at the same time.

I will add an updated list and try to keep it near the end of this topic.

Wrong!   My one is Boccia.   Sorry!

Hadn't looked at that one before. Pretty powerful design to place the ball in the centre, even if that cuts off the head and the wheels. I like it!

For the last two weeks, I've been pestering my local Sainsbury's superstore on a Saturday morning by changing a fiver for 10 x 50p's in the vain hope of seeing if I can find anything more than the solitary coin that my daughter managed to acquire in her change at some point recently.

To say I have been unsuccessful has been an understatement as I've ended up on both occasions with 10 x 50p's which have all been the standard type - not even a commemorative one (let alone an Olympic one).  The only vague point of interest in some other change I acquired today was that I got a 2007 £2 union commemorative and a 2008 Dent 50p.  I've seen several of the 2007 £2 commems recently but very little else of interest there (apart from the 2008 London Olympiad centennial commem the other month).

Am I the most unlucky collector in the UK in terms of my complete lack of success in stumbling across any Olympic coins??  :'(

hertfordian- I feel your pain.  Since the first mention of an Olympic coin getting into circulation, I've had about 700 50ps through my hands, (including a £250 bag I ordered from my bank).  The result - one solitary Boccia coin.  A lot of older commems and a few IOM TT coins, but nothing else.  Seems to me that the distribution of the coins, is like the distribution of the department of Culture Media and Sport funding since London won the Olympic bid - if you ain't within 50 miles of London, you're nobody.

LOL! You could be right!  (That struck a particular chord at the moment as I'm trying to see if I can get my local town council to take an interest in lobbying for the area to get fast broadband as we're way too insignificant for Virgin to put their network here because of the costs and BT Openreach couldn't be more disinterested if they try).

On a more positive note numismatically though (that's why we're here after all!), thanks to my good old ma-in-law, I now have my second Olympic 50p - this one's for table tennis.  She's in Enfield and so obviously there, their proximity to the water sports park in Broxbourne means that they're almost rolling in Olympic 50's! (Well maybe not!)  ::)

I, too, have seen no Olympic 50ps (or 2010 commemoratives) in circulation, though I haven't gone to the lengths Hertfordian has in getting bags of coins.

I've had plenty of older commemoratives recently though, including two Gunpowder £2s out of the self service machine in Sainsbury's. Haven't seen any of them for a while.

Until now, nobody seems to have commented on the 2012 Logo on these coins.

Twenty-four have the Olympic Logo, but five have the Paralympic Logo:-

Archery
Boccia
Goalball
Table Tennis
Wheelchair Rugby

I have advised KM.

The Royal Mint decided to issue the coins in batches. 8 were released first, then another 8 which are the coins that are circulating now.

Some of the other coins, like equestrianism do not seem to be out yet, they may have been seen but i doubt it.

Some coins, like the football one, are coming out much later, that is not scheduled to be out until May, and that may mean it is not seen until 2012.

I think that certain coins ended up in different parts of the country. I see on ebay the same coins i have seen quite a few of, fencing, triathlon and volleyball, and they seem to be predominantly from the north or midlands, whereas some of the others are more in the south, i think London gets most of them though.

I agree - which is why I asked if anyone has scans -
there are so many designs out there I think it's easy to confuse them!
With a little help from fellow forum members (thanks KenA) I have 14 out of the 16,
see here
I have only so far seen these 16 designs - the others remain speculation for now.

Welcome to WoC BTW;
I think you are the first UK coin designer we have on here..... ;)

It's nice to be a first  :D

I remember when i first saw the coins, on a big poster type thing, and I could not work out what the swimming one was.

I have ten coins from circulation and one of my own too!

But i think it is when coins end up on ebay that you can be sure they are out, "if it's on ebay, it's real, unless it's fake" or something like that! ???

Figleaf

Welcome to WoC, augsburger.

Which coin carries your design?

I am afraid I have to disappoint you on eBay being real. It is standard procedure on eBay to offer coins for sale when they are not yet out. The seller proceeds to dawdle as long as possible until the coins come in, so he can win customers from people who do not participate in this practice.

This is the list published here on 23 Jan 2011.   There are 21 reported, but I am suspicious that the ones reported by Tony on 13 January might be ones bought direct from the Mint.   That would give us the total of 16 which seem to have appeared in circulation.   This is partially confirmed by Andy's message asking for scans of the five.   The text from here is the original list but with those five questioned.

Here we have the details of those found in circulation so far, together with the date reported to WoC :-
