UK Olympic 50p series

I think that it's just luck of the draw where they tend to end up.   If a certain area orders 50p coins, the next bag goes there.

There is nothing in the spec that says that they have to bear the date 2011, as the wording is 'For the obverse impression Our effigy with the inscription "ELIZABETH · II · D · G REG · F · D · " and the date of the year, ...'.   That wording could apply indefinately, unless the order is revoked.

Watch out in 2012!

Managed to get a Fencing 50p during my weekly trawl at Sainsbury's this morning so am well pleased with that.  I'm now up to 9 coins - this is the first one I've had that's actually a little scuffed looking on the reverse and so it's good to see that these are actually getting some real use.  Hopefully they are helping to get a new generation of numismatists started (which I guess was partly the point of having so many of the little blighters).

How's everyone else doing in their hunt for the whole set?

I've 10 and haven't had a new one in a while.  Have several of Aquatics, Badminton, Boccia, Cycling, Gymnastics and Goalball;and one of Athletics, Canoeing, Hockey and Volleyball.

Got a 500 coin bag from the bank on Friday and got nothing new, apart from 1997 (Machin) and 1998 (IRB) Jersey 50ps.  The buggers only gave me £243 worth of coins instead of the £250 I paid for :-(

From a different source today - someone who had got them from their change...  one handball and one wrestling...  A bit more news ?

(At the start of the month I got Wheelchair Rugby and Hockey.)
