Chandigarh, Sept 20

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly release new ferritic stainless steel coins of Rs 2, said an official release issued here on Thursday.

The centre portion of the coin shall bear 'Lion Capitol' of Ashoka pillar with 'Satyamev Jyate' inscribed below, it said while adding that the face of the coin contains visuals showing one of the mudras of classical dance 'Bharat Natyam' in centre right periphery and in centre left periphery denomination value '2' in international numerals.

The coin is a legal tender as provided in Coinage Act 1906 and existing two rupee coins in circulation would also continue to be legal tender, it further said.
