New Commemorative  Coins of 150 Years of Kuka Movement

100 Rs. + 5 Rs.

Dear friends
The idea of coins on Kuka movement of Namdharis was moted few years back by CM of punjab.I think the celebrationf of 150 yrs of Kuka are already over.
I fail to understand why coins are being issued now.

In India issuing an Commemorative coin is generally the last and least important function of any event or Celebration and coin are issued when the yearly celebrations are already over and on many occasions the circulation coin is never released to public and some time coins have been issued, even where the function has been cancelled

PM to release 100 rupees coin

Ludhiana: In memories of freedom fighter Guru Ram Singh, who spearheaded the Kuka movement, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will on September 28 release coin of 100 rupees denomination. This was told by the vice chairman of Kuka Martyrs trust Surinder Singh Namdhari. A function will be organized at the PM house to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Kuka movement. The function will be attended by Punjba Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, besides other leaders.

The publication date is very old I don't think that this coin was issued on September 28, I have not seen a single picture anywhere...

2010 will be over in 7 days. I dont know where is Kuka coin? I dont know when (if at all) will it be issued

Kansalji, Where is the this coin, will it be released  in 2011 and we have to wait till 2012, for the official release of this by PM of India, gods nows when he will get the time to release it. I think everybody has for gotten about it in 2011.

Is there an error in the design? The date says 1857 to 2007 ... this actually matches the War of Independence date ...
The Kuka Movement started in 1860 and went till 1872 ... so the date should be 1872 to 2012 ?? Or is the Govt counting the Kuka Movement as part of the War of Independence movement??

date is 2007 there are also some other problems with this coin.  lets wait and watch
