BRITISH INDIA KGV 2Rs 8 ANNA SILVER COIN, 1929 is listed on ebay. Can any body throw light about this coin? The coin appears genuine and whether price quoted is reasonable.

This is certainly a fake coin. Just compare the bust of King George V with that of a One Rupee Coin, particularly the Beard, and you can instantly say that this is fake. Even otherwise,  2 1/2 rupee coin is not listed anywhere.

If you see his other items on Ebay, (The East India Coins), they are also all fakes. I think this guy must be an agent of the "Fake Coins and Token Manufacturing Company".

Did you pobserve that the coin looks brass on one side? Even the silver side, there are traces of moulding sand near the GEO of George. A definate fake.

Sorry to disagree, whilst it's certainly not authentic it can't really be classed as a fake, as it's a copy of something that does not exist.....  I wonder where they got the portrait from?

Well, yes, fantasy, rather than fake but the listing doesn't mention this anywhere and talks breathlessly about "coin" and "rare". If you believe eBay cares, you should report this.

The person minted this coin must be complimented. Its creation is some thing like matching minted in regular mints. Agree with Peter that it is nothing but fantasy. I wish I had purchased this to keep in my collection except for its price.

Ahh,just today I saw some of those! But those banknotes (Rs 2 Anna 8 ) are also equally scarce.A decent example would cost you half million rupees or so these days..

I have just seen this thread and it is really too late to react to. However in future if there are any fakes found please advise me at least 2 days before the auction ends if possible.

Bit of a problem there, he only seems to list short auctions.
This one is a certain fake 1886 Rupee
but it's only a 24 hour auction.

It is good that some body going to bell the cat. There are large numbers of fake coins and stamps are on sale and sellers are getting away with large amount. I did complain and ebay took prompt action to suspend that item. But the item resurfaces in some other form. We cannot do policing. One can take action under Counterfeit Currency and Stamps (Policy) by informing ebay under ebay rules. Such items are not only fake items but counterfeit as well.

Well it looks like Ebay is starting its revenge on me for taking a stand. I am now unable to pay for some coin purchases due to the account being blocked. An interesting way of doing things. They block my account I can't pay they suspend due to lack of performance.

The legal reply (from lawyers) will be with them in 48 hours.
