Does anyone know if there is a good catalogue that lists the banknotes, coins,& medal-coins of Malta? I know that E.M. Said were publishing one, even though the prices were only in Maltese Pounds.

"Coins and Medals of the Knights of Malta" by Canon H. Calleja Schembro (London, 1908) covers part of what you are looking for: coins from 1530 to 1798 and medals struck by the order of Malta. The numismatic history of Malta starts earlier, of course. It is not listed by Amazon UK, so it may be very tough to locate. There is a 1966 Spink reprint that will also be difficult to find.

You can find modern coins, pseudo issues, order of Malta issues and banknotes in KM, "Unusual coins" and Pick respectively.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
