National catalogue: Belgium
« on: August 06, 2007, 12:25:44 PM »
There are more catalogues of modern Belgian coins (notably, our member Willy68 is working on a beautiful one) but for the moment, the most used is Morin. Though Morin originally wrote the catalogue, it is maintained by Antwerp dealer Peter Eyckmans. The catalog covers the period from 1832 to date, including Belgian colonies (the picture is of my ancient edition). Since in the most recent edition prices are up-to-date (but even so not more than an indication), it has added value over KM. It also has added value for specialized collectors, as the booklet is far cheaper than two volumes of KM. The catalog is more detailed and more correct than KM. As in Km, there is no effort to separate NCLT from circulating coins.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

This looks very interesting, do you have an idea about it's price?

Peter & Geert,
Do you know if the Belgian catalogue will be listing Euro coins?

Aidan.

It does!! All euro circulation coins, and Belgian-issued non circulating commemoratives.
