A History of Money, Glyn Davies
« on: August 06, 2007, 11:41:29 AM »
I met Glyn Davies a decade ago. A frail looking, long retired professor of the University of Wales, whose unbelieveable energy could only be seen in his quick, darting eyes and easy intellect. His book was the fulfillment of a wish long held that could only be realized after retirement. He died in 2003.

There is a synopsis of this book on here. All I can add is that there is a second edition out and second hand copies go for virtually the same price as new books. The book goes beyond coins putting them in the perspective of the financial world, but for most of world history, most of the money in circulation was coins. Not really a bedside storybook, but a book you will find yourself coming back to time and again.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
