Suppose you are Rangnath and you want to consult a book by Fred Pridmore on Malay coins. Here's an option:

1. Go to http://books.google.com/
2. type fred pridmore and click "search books"
3. click "Coins and Coinages of the Straits Settlements and British Malaya, 1786-1951: Including Tokens ..."
4. click "Find this book in a library" (in the frame on the right)
5: in the field "enter location information" enter Rangnath's postal code
6. closest copy of the book is in the University of Washington libraries in Seattle, a bit of a drive, but not impossible.

This also works in other countries.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
