Queen Elizabeth II of the UK died on 8th September 2022. She was Head of the Commonwealth of Nations, and also the head of state of the Commonwealth realms.

King Charles III of the UK is now Head of the Commonwealth of Nations, and also the head of state of the Commonwealth realms. A Commonwealth realm is a sovereign state within the Commonwealth of Nations that has Charles III as its monarch and head of state.

This topic will consider countries, territories and dependencies that portrayed Elizabeth II on their current banknotes at the time of her death. Some Commonwealth realms have stated that they do not wish to portray King Charles III on their banknotes. Of those that do, it will be interesting to see which portraits they choose.

THE COMMONWEALTH REALMS

King Charles III of the UK is now Head of the Commonwealth of Nations, and also the head of state of the Commonwealth realms. A Commonwealth realm is a sovereign state within the Commonwealth of Nations that has Charles III as its monarch and head of state. In recent years, the Commonwealth realms and other countries have looked more critically at the UK, and its former empire and its history of slave trading, symbols of which have become anathema in the current political climate.
