The Jalayirid Sultanate (جلایریان) was a dynasty that ruled over Iraq and western Persia after the breakup of the Mongol khanate of Persia in the 1330s and which lasted about fifty years. The Jalayirid dynasty takes its name from Jalayir, the name of a Mongolian tribe from which it was descended. These silver dinars were struck in Baghdad in the name of Shaykh Hasan, the founder of the dynasty, 1335-1356 AD. The beautiful calligraphy is typical of the period displaying Kufic-style script in a square.
Shaykh Hasan (شيخ حسن), also known as "Hasan Buzurg" ("Hasan The Great"), Hassan the Jalair; he was the first of several de facto independent Jalayirid rulers of Iraq and central Iran.

That Kufic script drives me nuts, in both forms we see here. It was nice of them to do the Rashidun in a different script!

Thank you Jonathan, kufic writing is an art and this case it was used for verses from the Quran. Kufic has no dots, so you have to predict where the dots are, using sentence intelligibility and that is not difficult in the case of the Quran because all Muslims have learnt the Quran.
