Almost 2 months into the new year, has any one come across any 2010 coins in circulation?

Hi amit,
glad u started this thread.. i was thinking on the same lines...

the only new issue i have seen is the anna 5rs brass coin... but it doesnt say 2010 on it but i think it was released in 2010 so i hope it qualifies as a new issue of the year.

Haven't come across anything new in Bangalore.

I heard that Noida has issued the 2009 5R Brass coin but have not seen it myself. Noida has not been issuing 5R for a while now.

Bimat

I think the 2010 issues will be having the new rupee symbol,so will have to wait until March/April..

I have also not seen any inspite of regular visits to Delhi.

I do not think so. They will issue coins of 2010 as per previous designs since, after the logo is approved, they will need to redesign the coins. It would take time and I do not think they will continue minting 2009 coins, well into 2010.

I read in the local newspaper that the final design has already been approved by our finance minister, but it hasn't been disclosed yet.And anyway,it was my guess only ;)

I don't check the every note that I get in change so throughly, but I do check for its serial number :D

Also,no signs of any 2010 dated coins here..

Aditya

PS: I picked up some pieces of KVIC commemorative(obviously FSS) today for 10Rupees each.Considering its average price on e-bay,this is a very good deal :P

I too have come across Rs 10 and Rs 500 notes with 2010 on them, but no luck with coins yet

Came across a 2010 Natya Mudra Rs. 2 coin today... the bottom edge of the coin was pretty worn out, and I could not see any mint mark with the naked eye.

Most error coins come from Calcutta and they also have the weakest strike generally speaking.

Observe a 5 rupee coin from Calcutta and Hyderabad, they have near identical dies except for the mint mark, and compare them.

Thanks MS for the description. There was a thread for identifying the various Mint Marks and I wasnt able to find it. Can someone be kind enough to post a link to it.
