Alex Island

Fred Richard Zinkann - he was a well-known man in narrow circles who was passionate about Antarctica, together with his wife, as far as I know. And he was also a keen numismatist. One day he decided to mint tungsten coins for one of the Antarctic islands - Kerguelen Island. But something didn't go according to plan and after the third coin the stamp began to crumble.

I saw that there are no topics or publications on the forum related to this interesting numismatist and his further numismatic experiments. It is noteworthy that he tried to mint coins from all the metals in the periodic table of elements.

Was anyone familiar with him and his numismatic work? I've collected some information. If this is interesting, then you can continue your research on this topic, because some of his works have long been included in the "world unusual coins" catalog

I checked that the "numista" website produces 18 results when searching for the word "Zincann".
This is about 5 or 10 times less than the diversity that I know about in his heritage.
The website shows options for one of the "Malvinas islands" coins.
Cobalt, Hafnium, Rhenium, Tantalum, Zirconium - These rare metals were used in different variations for coins and are shown:

I noticed that there is also only half of the information here, and not all issues are listed. But quite a lot is indicated, for example, the previous token was made in at least 10 different metals:

It was interesting for me to follow the publications in magazines about these coins. The earliest publications I found date back to 1987, 1988, and 1996:

The next publication comes out in 1997 and is much longer:

And two more publications for 2006 and 2008:

Next, I decided to check which of the coins were included in the catalog "Unusual world coins : companion volume to Standard catalog of world coins" by Bruce, Colin R., II, English, 5ed, 2008

I found that there are some but many are not mentioned. This is what I found in the catalog when searching for this surname:

Amsterdam & Saint Paul islands 2007
Kerguelen islands 1981, 2003, 2004

And three other mentions. It turns out that only 5 issues are shown, while at the same time I know about 16
