Looking for a reference

Hopefully this post will save me some hunting on Goolgle books: Can any one tell me a good reference book on Spanish/Mexican Dollars?

For a recent catalogue, try:

Adolfo, Clemente and Juan Cayón, J. LAS MONEDAS ESPAÑOLAS DEL TREMIS AL EURO DEL 411 A NUESTROS DÍAS. 2005 edition, hardbound 24,7 x 17,5 cm., two volumes, 1465 pages, fully illustrated. Valuations in euro. Spanish text.

This will give you a list of all Spanish and Spanish colonial coins of all times. Very complete, but more than you need. More specialized and less recent is:

Lázaro, J.L. LOS REDONDOS DE LIMA, MÉJICO Y POTOSI Y OTRAS ACUÑACIONES ESPECIALES. 1996 ed., hardbound, 25 x 17.5 cm., 461 pages, illustrated. Fine work on 8-Reales pieces from 1665 to 1788 circulating in South America.

This is also more expensive than Cayón.

KM's listings are less expensive and not bad at all.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
