Can someone please tell me what mint this coin is from? I believe it is from Suleiman the Magnificent. I'm told it is a gold Altin AH 973 (1565/1566); A-1317. 3.49gm.  I'd appreciate any other information as well. Thank you!

Could it be Egypt ?:

Hello bisoncoin, welcome to WoC. I have moved your post to the appropriate board.

Please read the sticky thread here and provide the missing information, in particular a photo or scan of the other side, in this thread. Your coin deserves a proper identification and you can get it here, but we need the extra data.

We also ask for a cross-reference to our partner sites Zeno and Numista once your coin is identified. If you're a newbie, don't worry, we'll be happy to help out.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Thank you so much for the guidance--I appreciate it. I've made the changes, and please let me know if there's anything else I can add.

Yes "bisoncoin", here is a lookalike of your Gold Altin.
Under the line of "fi", there is: Misr sanaa and (in this case) 926 or 936 AH between two ornaments.
So, Egypt and the year.

In view of the metal, weight and date, this must be a gold sultani 927 AH (1521 AD), Misr mint (Egypt) Zeno 295151, Numista 63093. Click on the cross references for more information. Note that the specimen on Numista is underweight. A large majority of this type of coin is dated 926. The date 927 is hard to find.
