The first picture below is accepted as the first pagoda ever minted by the British East India Company at Madras c. 1643-1677 (https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=56879). I was going through my collection and was surprised to find one very similar (second picture).
Both specimens are worn out - or minted with crude dies.

It's interesting that in the pre independent Australia, the pagoda was priced at 8 schillings
Actually it was the first recorded multi-currency exchange rate table i have come across, which is called as the "Australian proclamation of 1788"

What a jaw-dropping find, gsrctr. The two pictures are convincing. These are two coins of the same type. Do you even remember who sold it to you? Why did you keep it? Better make sure it is conveniently labelled or else someone will take it for a piece of scrap, rather than a piece of history one day.

TFP. May you have more such lucky finds.

Peter
An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Thank you Peter - was hoping that you would respond.
To me they appear very similar, but your comments confirm.
Looks like the dies used were very basic, rather than the coin being worn out.
I will get it slabbed with proper attribution so that this is preserved correctly.

I bought this coin a few years ago from I believe a European auction.
Kept it aside as I thought it was a worn out specimen.

what you called as worn, NGC considers the same to be in a mint state
