Very nice coin with plenty of detail. TFS.

Poey d'Avant (plate LXXXVI, 22) attributes this coin to Henri I (reigned 1208-1222), others say it was issued for Henri I and II (highly unlikely, too much time between them) or Henri II only. Recent treasure troves convinced Jean Duplessy (Dy 1173) that it should be attributed to Henri II (reigned 1274-1304). An obole of the same type, but smaller and lighter is known.

Henri II was a thoroghly unremarkable ruler in a line of colourful counts, specialising in either dying while on crusade or treasonous/scandalous behaviour. The people of Rodez must have loved him ;)
