The gold six pence design is almost an exact replica of the 1928 six pence.

So why a gold six pence, 96 years after the 1928 six pence?

Did our member andyg commission it, to use as a prize for his Xmas quiz?

Or was it issued to celebrate the centenary of our member Deeman?

I suspect there are other reasons.

The UK Conservative government is currently very unpopular and is expected to lose the upcoming general election.

The Conservative party is desperate to come up with a cunning ploy to save the day.

The gold six pence suggests to me that Rishi Sunak is planning to bring back pounds, shillings and pence and also return the UK to the gold standard. He calculates that these policies will be stunningly popular, and the Tories will then win the next general election by a landslide.  8)

Interesting that Quentin Peacock has now also designed a coin for The Royal Mint.

I find it extremely difficult to believe that Quentin Peacock could be anybody's GIVEN name.  :D
