North Korea is the leading example of a small group of countries that maintain a Stalinist dictatorial personality cult coupled with symbolic gestures, said to be aimed at "the people", but in reality aimed at further glorification of the leader. This system inevitably leads to high abuse of the people, grave economic mistakes and absurd situations, in turn keeping the country impoverished. The Chollima statue is a good example of this pursuit of the absurd, in this case for the deification of Kim Il-Sung. More information here.
