Here's a section that is of interest to those who collect coins from African countries,especially those from British Commonwealth member states.Gambia is one such country.

Here is a list of the Gambian coins that I do have so far in my collection;

Dominion of the Gambia (1965-70);

1966 1 Penny.
1966 6 Pence.
1966 1 Shilling.
1966 4 Shillings.
1970 8 Shillings.

Republic under President Sir Dawda K. Jawara (1970-94);

1971 1 Butut.
1974 1 Butut - F.A.O. commemorative.
1971 5 Bututs.
1971 10 Bututs.
1971 25 Bututs.
1987 1 Dalasi.

Republic under President Yahya Jammeh (1994-);

1998 1 Butut.
1998 5 Bututs.
1998 10 Bututs.
1998 25 Bututs.
1998 50 Bututs.
1998 1 Dalasi.

Gambian coins are notoriously difficult to find,except for the 1966 1d.,the 1971 1b.,& the 1974 F.A.O. commemorative 1b.

Here's an article about Gambia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambia .

You have a nice collection Aidan. Many more than I have. But I do have one that you don't. I hope you enjoy this one.

Richie,
  Gambia & Rhodesia were the first 2 countries to use Arnold Machin's design of Queen Elizabeth II's portrait on pre-decimal coins.The only other 2 countries that used this portrait on pre-decimal coins were Guernsey (1966 10/-) & the Isle of Man (1970 1 Crown).

I'm lucky enough to have all the circulation coins of Gambia in my collection, as well as the 8 shillings, which suggests to me that I'm just older than the rest of you.

It's interesting that the one dalasi coin (lovely crocodile design) comes in three versions, the first issue being round, the second issue being seven-sided, whilst the third issue is a reduced-size version of the heptagonal coin. In my collection, the respective dates for these versions are 1971, 1987 and 1998.

All the reverse circulation designs were by the late Michael Rizzello of the UK, who also produced the portrait of the President on the obverse. The hippo design on the 8 shillings was by Henry Rowland Hill and commissioned by Spink. Mr Rizzello did draw a couple of different versions of the hippo for the Royal Mint, which illustrations I have seen at the National Archives at Kew, but for reasons unknown to me neither of those versions was adopted.
