European copper

Another from my Tin of Weirdness...

Copper, 23.9 mm, 3.00 g.

It's not helped by having been double struck so that some details are off the flan.

On one side I see a shield dividing a date 15 / xx; the upper part of the legend appears to read S LEO ... DE GER...

The other side has a cruciform arrangement of urns (?) or ornaments. Again the text is annoyingly off flan apart from DVX (duke).

This is a copper brulé of the prince-bishopric of Liege, in nowadays Belgium. It has been struck in the name of prince-bishop Gerard van Groesbeek.
