Official modern collectors coins of the Pitcairn Islands

This topic contains an overview of the official modern collectors coins that are being issued by the Pitcairn Islands in recent years. The real coins are denominated in 'dollars'. Tower Mint also manufactures pieces for the Pitcairn Islands denominated in pounds, but these are not legal tender. Under the laws of the Pitcairn Islands, the local government can only issue legal tender coins that are denominated in dollars. The islands have no right to issue pound-denominated coins.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of ET, in 2022 the Pitcairn Islands released a series of five legal tender 50 cents coins, that can be seen below.

In 2023, the Pitcairn Islands released a series of 12 coins with a denomination of 1 dollar to commemorate famous battles in World War II. One of the coins in the series can be seen below.

The Pitcairn Islands have released an official 1 dollar coin depicting the Red Lionfish. The piece was also issued with a denomination of 5 dollars in coloured silver proof. The piece is part of a series commemorating marine life.

The Pitcairn Islands will soon release a legal tender silver 2 dollars coin for the Year of the dragon. The piece will also be released with a denomination of 10 dollars in coloured silver proof.
