Notice the two stars on the obverse of these two coins.

It was only this morning that I noticed them myself.

They are not just decorative devices.

They represent the African Star of Freedom.

This occurs on Ghana's flag.

These stars are found on several of Ghana's coins.


This reminds me of the star found on various predecimal Australian coins.

For long enough I thought that the star was just a decorative device.

It is of course the Commonwealth star.
