"From the early rulers of Sindh to the last Mughal emperors, the exhibition covers 45 coins from various famous kingdoms such as the Delhi sultanate and Mughal empire but also features coins from local Sultanates such as those of Malwa, Gujarat, Kashmir and Bengal.  Each coin is accompanied by a word-by-word bilingual translation its inscription which is generally in Arabic or Persian. An illustration of each coin's text is also provided such that one can truly appreciate the complexity and beauty of the calligraphy. "

Chandigarh Museum and Art Gallery is organizing an Exhibition on Sultanate and Mughal coins of its collection.
I have been honored to serve as its curator. I'm sure many of the WoC members would have seen some of the illustrations I posted over the past few months. All of those were a part of this project.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on 29th July and will be open till 13th August.

Alongside the Exhibition, we'll also be publishing a catalogue for the same. It will include more details than the exhibition and will also have a multitude of high resolution images and illustrations.

Further details of the Exhibition are mentioned in the attached PDF. Looking forward to seeing some of you!

Congratulations and best of luck.

BTW, are all coins in the Museum represented in the Catalogue or just types are listed. I would be interested if there is any way I can get the complete list (with pictures, if possible) of the coins of Gujarat mints.

Thank you once again for your kind words. We have selected 45 coins from the collection of a few thousand.

We are also planning a digital version so you will be able to access the entire catalogue there.

The coins of Gujarat mints are:

Muzaffar Shah II of the Gujarat Sultanate
Aurangzeb Bandar-e-Mubarak Surat
Murad Bakhsh Surat
Akbar II Ahmedabad

I shall provide the complete list soon.
