Royal Dutch Mint has made an error with an unknown number of coincards of the Belgian 2 euro commemorative coin 2023 'Art Nouveau'. Instead of the Belgian 'Art Nouveau' coin, the coincards contain the 2 euro commemorative coin of Malta 2023 'Nicolaus Copernicus'. The Maltese coin was sheduled for release in September. Both coins are being manufactured by Royal Dutch Mint. According to an Italian source the mint has denied having made a mistake but an increasing number of coincards with the error is being reported.

One of the coincards containing the incorrect coin is being offered for sale on eBay by a German seller for 2,000 euros. Another is being auctioned on eBay by an Italian seller. With still nearly 5 days to go, the bidding is already at 390 euros after 52 bids.

The error appears to have happened in the packaging process of the Dutch language version of the coincard.
