JEBSON stamped on an 1841 British halfpenny. Does this ring any bells with anyone? The internet doesn't seem to have heard of it.

I'm not familiar with it and it's unlisted in Brunk. I don't have a copy of Gavin Scott's reference so maybe it would be documented there.

Looking at the placement of the stamp leaves the possibility that there's more to it that doesn't show on the right side. There's a small space to the left between the J and the rim so there's probably nothing additional there.

I'll take a look around and see if I come up with anything.

So far I've come across a ship named the Michael Jebson that was sunk by a German submarine in WWII. Also a convicted axe murder named Jebson...no, really... and a family tree with pictures. A tough looking lot they are, even the women.  :o  I haven't given up yet but it doesn't look promising.

I'm going to "massage" your pictures if you don't mind. Maybe I can pick up some details that aren't apparent.

Please do!

Perhaps this coin was a way for the axe murderer to drum up business... ;D

Yeah, a good-for token. Redeem one an have no more worries about paying your back taxes to the IRS. Even those "shamoogas" can't get to you where you're going.

BTW, don't Google "shamoogas," I just made it up because it seemed to fit the occasion. What I wanted to say was...oh,never mind. ;D
