MS, Aditya, Mumba,

Say thanx to me... I suggested (7 Jan 10) that Hyderabad might not have closed the booking HA HA HA. But on a serious note, one of you could talk to them and update all of us vis this board.

One thing more, when I initially posted the news of these coins(Nov 09), most of you were reluctant to shell out 150 bucks! Now I see a mad scramble for them. Frankly speaking, I feel that 150 bucks are reasonable for these beautiful coins. First of all Rs 10 Gur Ta Gaddi is not for circulation...on top of it, your coins will have the elusive star of Hyderabad!!

Sone pe suhaga.

Sanjay,

Undoubtedly I got the idea of calling up the mint based on your advise. Many thanks for the timely advice. I called them up and sent them the DD on the 7th itself. I agree that 150 is a good price coming out of the mint. I was a bit lazy as I had assumed that the mint booking will be open for a while and realised only later that I might have missed the bus. This should be a good lesson for me to act when there is time in future.

You seem to have good contacts in the Indian coin world. Many thanks for keeping all of us in the loop.

Amit was going to call up and find out about his booking. I will wait for his feedback before calling them.

Called up the mint again today since my sets had not yet arrived. The official I spoke to, mentioned that most of December orders had been filled and they are processing 1st week of Jan orders now. I had sent the DD on the 7th of Jan. BTW - They are still accepting new orders but expect 6-8 weeks for delivery.

Thanks for the updates,MS.I still have not ordered my set,I'm just too lazy.. ::)

Aditya,

The sets are selling for 400 each with local dealers in Bangalore. Assuming that you want to add these to your collection, you better hurry up or you will end up paying a premium on each set.

When I called up today I was given another extension number. The guys at this extension are responsible for processing the orders. The number is 040 27261731, Ext 110. The guy asked me how many I had ordered and when I said one of each he found it amusing. I guess the dealers/ big collectors are placing large orders.

Thanks MS.I'll call them as soon as possible to make sure that they are still accepting new orders.I was offered that set for 300 INR.I didn't pay much attention, but I think that is fairly good price compared to average E-bay etc prices.. 8)

Finally got both the single coin UNC sets from Hyderabad mint. Demand draft sent in the first week of January, sets received 16th of May :) Better late than never.

Bimat

Congrats,MS! :D I bought my set from a dealer, paid 250 bucks for it.(Didn't buy the Braille UNC set)Not too bad,IMO.Most of the dealers in Mumbai are now offering both the sets for 600,it's not possible to buy just one of them, don't know why >:(

MS

Aditya,

One of my friends attended a coin fair in Tamil Nadu 2 weeks back. I think It was in Coimbatore. One of the dealers there was disposing the UNC sets for 150 each. I found that suspicious but according to my friend, the sets were authentic. Maybe he had a large hoard!

I had got a Gur-Ta-Gaddi single coin set (Hyderabad mint) from a local dealer for around 200 bucks last month

Booked both sets in Nov 2009, till sets not received. This is classic example of working of mints.

I think you should call them to make sure that your order has been confirmed, you will find some contact numbers in this thread itself (see reply #18).7 months is a very long period, and some of the members who had ordered their sets in January and they have already received their orders. :o

Yep, I agree, November orders were all filled by Feb/March if we were to take the words of the mint officials. I spoke to the mint guys a couple of times and they mentioned they had cleared December end orders and had run out packing materials. He assured me that in 2 weeks all orders would be filled. This was in Feb. After this there was a long wait and I had given up hope on getting my sets. They however arrived mid May.
