1957 F West African Specimens

These images are far too big. They are taking far too long to load and tying up my screen.

I downloaded two of them to my desktop out of curiosity. They are PNG images, and each has a massive size of 7.75 MEGABYTES ! That is way too large for a forum, and way too large to make sense.

I copied one of your images from the screen and posted it here. I reduced the size somewhat and reduced the quality to 60%. I then saved it in the JPG format. It is only 58 KB in size and is more than adequate.

Very nice coins, mrbrklyn. Could you tell me what the SP stands for in the grade? Does it indicate a proof specimen?

"Specimen" (whatever that means) is by definition correct. "Not distributed" is not. Monnaie de Paris routinely sells circulation coins of France and its (former) colonies marked ESSAI (trial). I am not sure if they are used much in the mint and suspect they are mainly fund raisers for the mint/government.
