From Royal Central:

King Charles III's first Maundy service to be held in ancient cathedral

EXTRACTS:

The first Maundy service of the reign of King Charles III will take place in York Minster. King Charles and Queen Camilla will take part in the ceremony at the Minster on Maundy Thursday, April 6th 2023.

The Monarch hands out purses of specially minted coins. The number of men and women always matches the Monarch's age – in 2023, there will be 74 men and 74 women receiving coins from The King.

Each receives two purses – one made of white leather holding coins to the value in pence of the Monarch's age and the other made of red leather, containing a special £5 and a special 50p. These will be the first Maundy coins of the reign of King Charles.

So that follows the format of the legend on the QEII Maundy coins.

Rather a lot to fit on such small coins.

It differs from the legend on the CIII's circulating commemoratives.

A slightly expanded legend appeared on the 2022 memorial gold sovereign.

With Charles's name being slightly shorter than Elizabeth's (though an additional "I" after it) does allow for the inscription to be larger.  Charles's coins so far resemble the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait in terms of inscription size.

Assuming the date is retained on the obverse of the regular circulation designs, there's room for an expanded inscription but not "Dei Gra Rex Fid Def" without making it smaller.  Perhaps "Dei Gra Rex F D".  All a lot of Latin religious nonsense either way!

Yes, "Charles" has seven letters while "Elizabeth" has nine. However, the "I" in "Elizabeth" is a narrower letter than any letter in "Charles", so perhaps the difference will not be so great, once the "III" is added for the new king.

From Royal Central.

The first Maundy coins of the reign of King Charles III are unveiled.

EXTRACTS:

The first Maundy coins to bear the image of King Charles III have been revealed ahead of a special service at York Minster where His Majesty will distribute them in a tradition that stretches back centuries.

The King will hand out Maundy money to 74 men and 74 women, one for each year of his age. They will be given a red purse, containing a special £5 coin and 50p piece, and a white purse, filled with specially minted coins to the value of 74 pence, one penny for each year of King Charles III's age.

Following Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's death, this year's Maundy coins will see His Majesty King Charles III's official coin portrait appear on them for the very first time. This will be the first time King Charles III will be issuing his own Maundy Money marking a significant moment in history.

King Charles presented Maundy money in 2022 on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.

Camilla is handing out the Maundy money instead of the king, who is recovering from illness. That's a first.

From the Telegraph:

The Queen has arrived for the Royal Maundy service at Worcester Cathedral, where she will distribute Maundy money on behalf of the King. During the service, the Queen will present ceremonial coins to 75 men and 75 women, as per Easter tradition. Her involvement marks the first time that a consort has stood in to perform the duty on behalf of the monarch.
