I HAD a chance to buy this 1/2 Panam and was surprised to see the price. I can only come up with 2 sold in Stephen Album Rare Coins.

Where as Standard catalog ( old version - 5th edition) mentions it as half chuckram and Doesn't rate this very pricey - auction prices are sky high.

The market for this coin is likely to be very thin: little demand, little supply. In such circumstances, you can expect a large variation in prices realised. Imagine one person sitting in the auction room whose mission is to hide money from the tax man and who wouldn't have a clue what KM stands for. That situation alone could drive up the price to the extent that it would have been cheaper to pay tax, not even factoring in the risk of getting caught ::)

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
