Lesotho 5 maloti 2016.jpg

Lesotho, 5 maloti, 2016.

In 2016 Lesotho issued a special 5 maloti coin.

It commemorated the 50th anniversary of independence.

The obverse carried a portrait of King Letsie III.

Do you know who designed and minted this coin?

Did it circulate in Lesotho?

In this and in the parent topic, the coat of arms of Lesotho is shown a number of times.

Did anyone notice that in all but one such instance in these topics, the motto appears as "KHOTSO PULA NALA". The exception is that in the images of Lesotho 1 Loti 1998 coin (see reply number 34 of the parent topic) the motto is "KHOTSO PULA NAGA".

There is some other information about the coins with motto "KHOTSO PULA NAGA" here...

Here is the image that you mention.

Numista states that the word 'NAGA' at the end of the motto is a mistake.

It should say 'NALA'.
