This is a token from India.
Appears to be related to some wedding
Obverse shows coat of Arms of Holkar ( Indore Princely state)
On reverse two name indicated are " Vasundhra Raje" and "Sardar Pratap Singh Rao Holkar".
Date at bottom is 31-1-1989.

Any information would be appreciated.

Figleaf

Vasundhara Raje Scindia was easy. In 1989 she was divorced and had a son, had been elected to the Lok Sabha and the legislative assembly from Dholpur and was (former?) vice-president, BJP, Rajasthan.

I found no trace of a Sardar Pratap Singh in the Holkar family.

Could this have been a political, rather than a marital union?

Vasundhra Raje could be a common name. You added "Scindia" on your own.
She is from Gwalior and not Indore.
She got married in 1972.
The date could be Samvat era and not necessarily CE.
By 1989 CE, princely privileges had been abolished so use of Coat of Arms could be rather rare.
Political union would not be in Indore since Vasundhra Raje Scindia was firmly in Rajasthan by 1989 CE and not in Madhya Pradesh, where Gwalior and Indore are located.

I did not add it. Wiki mentions it. Wiki was the only hit I got. It follows the name is not on Twitter or Linkedin, therefore not common. Unless you get more hits in India?

Indeed, according to Wiki. She divorced a year later, says the same source.

A coat of arms is usually not covered by industrial property legislation. Arms of territories that no longer exist can be freely used. There is a trinket shop in London that uses E ast India Company arms.

As a Veep of BJP, I presume she campaigned for the party everywhere in India and supporting a local candidate would be logical. In that situation, the local candidate would have the medal manufactured (e.g. as a reward for big sponsors) and if Vasundhara Raje Scindia supported him, he'd mention her, wouldn't he?

A full and exact translation of the Nagari text would be useful.
