The interesting and well done scalloped token drew my attention because of its overall look. I found nothing in regard to Ed Wagner but he was likely the proprietor of a St. Louis bar. This token is very much in keeping with period tap rooms or drinking establishments.

The maker of the token, the Grimm Engraving Co., appears in the 1891 St. louis city directory but no where else that I found. It figures that Wagner was located in St. Louis as well. St Louis had any number of token makers and, of course, many bars or "coffee rooms" as they were sometimes called.

An interesting late 19th century American token.
