As this is clearly pre-islamic i am going to move this to a more appropriate board.

I disagree. The tiara is not crested. (There are no hooks present.)

What makes a difference is not just what you see in a coin, but how you interpret it.

Nice. Always a pleasure seeing more Elymaean collections. Do you have all these attributed? If not, let me know.

Here are mine, if anyone's interested: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=3637

A very impressive page, Kamnaskires. Glad you took the trouble to post it. We are not as specialised by far as Forvm Ancient coins, but we are also non-commercial.

How about starting a thread on Elymais, a map, some basics, some links, a basic bibliography an invitation to ask questions, in short, a runway for beginning coin collectors?

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Thanks, Peter.

Actually, an essay I wrote years ago that addresses the very issues you mention - and that is really geared towards potential new collectors of Elymaean coins - is still available online at:

I have wanted to update it for years but have simply never gotten around to it. With my retirement pending (about a half year away), perhaps I'll return to the project at some point in the near future.

With many years of retirement already behind me, let me tell you that you cannot overestimate the importance of keeping physically and intellectually busy when retired - and the world will not co-operate. Consider yourself encouraged. ;)
