New "Great Seal" Gold Coin

A country called "The United States of America" (according to the inscription) just issued a new gold coin. It features the Great Seal of the US and, on the other side, Mercury or Hermes with a native princess.

But ... wait. ;D Why does it have a face value of "50 euro", and what does that "RF" mean? Right, this is a French issue, hehe. Comes in different denominations/sizes/weights; this is the €50 quarter ounce piece which costs €700. Larger images (embedded links) are here: obverse / reverse.
