I am not a specialist on these so just a quick observation. If the coin size indeed is 21 mm, this is unlikely to be an akce. There do exist multiple akces (medini), but even these are smaller. I don't know a lot on the Ottoman denomination system, but i would call this a dirham ?

Figleaf

A diameter of 21mm is normal for a dirham and so is the central circle. Compare Zeno 16907, 33676, 33979, 23524, 274371 (Selim II), 118056, 225128, 93808, 59021, 290520 (Murad III), 34008 (Ahmed I). Weight of the coin by itself would 3-4 grams.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Thank you Peter for the useful information.

Dear Anthony, possible ID of this coin is:
Ottoman Empire, Mehmed III, AR Dirham, Amid mint (AH 1003-1012 /1595-1603 AD)
Obverse (Left photo):
Field:
سلطان محمد  , Sultan Mehmed
بن مراد  , bin Murad
Reverse (Right photo):
Field:
Inside center circle:
في  , fi
آمد , Amid (Diyarbakır  ديار بكر)
Mehmed III (محمد ثالث) was Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1595 until his death in 1603. He was the son of Murad III (AH 982-1003/1574-1595 AD).
Similar to Zeno (#290816), Mehmed III, Amid.

Great you were able to pinpoint this to this specific ruler Maythem !
On the object; do you think this was some sort of clothing decoration ? The 3 small disks around seem smooth, but could this have been akces ?

aws22

Thank you Anthony for your help in identifying the coin. I have identical pair of these ladies silver earrings with the same coin type, the small discs are thin plain silver (not akce) in order to reduce the weight on the ear lobes. Lovely pair of old ottoman earrings. Attached, is a photo of the second earring.
Weight: 4.88 gm (including extras)
Coin diameter: 21 mm

Ah Earrings, that makes sense.
Nice to see them together. Both numismatically and historically a nice pair !
