I was wondering if anyone could help me identify the "S (Up Arrow)" symbol on this counterstamp. Apparently, there's some relation to the Mar, 1859 date which I think might be a reference to the Ulster Revival (Presbyterian) of the mid-19th century in Ireland.

The stamp is struck on a George 3rd Cartwheel Penny c1800. The line surrounding the 9 in the date is probably from a badly cracked punch or damaged coin.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

My hope was that someone sorta famous called S or something S had a relation with March 1859, but uncle Google says no.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Yeah, Uncle Google let me down on this one too. Not my favorite relative. ;D
