Zeno's search engine is not self-evident at all, but once you can handle it, it is quite helpful. Two common pitfalls: first thing to do is to select a metal. Second thing to do is to make sure you delete search terms from a previous search if you kept the window open. Try using the free search field for the name of the ruler. Look at where his name appears in the description and put the ruler's name in the right place, freeing up the free search field for other details. Only add a mint if there are too many hits and don't bother with a denomination or date (keep in mind that the hits are sorted by date). Keep adding details until you have a manageable number of hits and find the date you want. If it isn't in the data base, pick a lookalike with another date and note e.g. a stand-in rupee with regnal year 20 and year 1078 like "Zeno 12345 (1078/20)" and you are done.

I am a newcomer, and I can see the benefits in this.'
So please, point by point on what I need to do from my end.

Thanks

Most excellent question, ttkooau. Thanks for asking.

On WoC: when you post a picture of a coin,
1) mention its Numista reference ("Numista 12345" or make a link). If it is not in Numista, just type "Numista --".
2) If it is an oriental coin, add its Zeno reference ("Zeno 54321" or "Zeno --"). If there are several coins of the same type, date and mint add a reasonable number of them. If there are of the same or similar type but none of the same date and mint pick the one closest to the picture in WoC, preceded by "compare" or "see" and note the difference, e.g. "see Zeno 67890 (Baghdad), 9876 (1099 AH)"

On Numista: choose your picture license. Click on "My account"; "Settings"; scroll down to the section "Picture contributions". Your pictures in WoC and Zeno are automatically available to members of WoC, Zeno and Numista under the CC BY-NC license (SA is automatically true).

On Zeno: add a Numista reference in the field provided when adding a listing.

Welcome back, bububoy. We are still working on it, but many contributors have made cross-referencing a habit already. The benefits are obvious. We are complementing each other, so our members get more depth of information with every link.
