Germany to mint 50 euro cent coins for circulation again

For the first time in 18 years, Germany is again going to mint 50 euro cent coins for general circulation. The German government has placed orders with each of the 5 mints. They are going to produce roughly 4 million pieces each. In total 20 million pieces were ordered, although additional orders may still follow later in the year. Germany for the last time minted the denomination for general circulation in 2004.
