A coin from the last days of the Ottoman Empire:

Turkey 20 Kurush (Piastres) AH 1327 (AD 1909) Regnal Year 9 (AD 1917)
Silver, 37 mm, 23.85 gm
El Ghazi at right of Toughra (Sultan's signature)

The coin has a mark on the reverse right which looks like metal has filled in the area.

Is this a mint creation, error, or something else like jewelry work.

Difficult, Brian. Obviously, the die was damaged by a rectangular-like object, but I can't think of an object of this shape. My first thought, flaking, is incorrect as the damage goes across the lower half moon while half of the flower is sharp.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Coin collecting has a curious name. It is also called the "Hobby of Kings".
