in 2020 the US Mint release a dollar coin as part of the American Innovation series for the state of Massachusetts - Invention of the Telephone.

2020 has nothing to do with what is on the reverse of coin, the order of release of the coins, like with the quarters programs has to do with the order of the states becoming part of the USA.

The annual sets will this year be released on January 4.

The media were today informed that they were allowed to release the press photos, after The Royal Mint had mistakenly leaked an image showing the new commemorative coins. A collector had found a link to the image in the source code of The Royal Mint website.

On the 50p Birmingham Commonwealth Games issue, the metalwork of the library in Centenary Square is depicted above the rebranded logo of Commonwealth Sport.

;D

The "ER 70" design I like. The two large digits convey the core message well, and I appreciate the fact that the coin does not have a "double effigy" (e.g. coronation and current portrait). The others, hmm.

Price of Annual Sets 2020 & 2021 increased from 55 to 60 GBP on Royal Mint website. I guess that new set 2022 will cost also 60 GBP. Will see tommorow morning.

The equestrian portrait for the platinum jubilee 50p and £5 coins.  Very nice but a shame none of these historic coins are actually minted for circulation.

Platinum jubilee coin design revealed

I was in Cardiff on Tuesday and went over to Llantrisant for a tour of the mint. I struck this coin at the end of the tour. The obverse has the queens head

eurocoin had earlier mentioned in this topic that there were two versions of the coin, one with the Queen on horseback on the obverse and the other with the standard Jody Clark portrait.

eurocoin, will the Jody Clark version be made available other than as a SYO?  Or is it available already?

MCz

It is already avaliable in Annual Set od 13 coins 2022.

So is the Queen-on-horseback obverse only available individually then?

MCz

Yes, this looks similar like last year with 50p decimalisation coin: one version was in Annual set, the second one was sold in individual package. This year is similar but the other way (standard JC obverse in set, special obverse individually; in 2021 special obverse was in annual set). It seems also that the same rule is applied to 5£ coin: in set with JC obverse, individual coin only with horse obverse.

Tonight at midnight The Royal Mint is going to announce that the Platinum Jubilee 50p coin will be released into general circulation.

Do you know which obverse the 50 pence coin will have?
