Hello Everyone.

Looking for some info. 1. I didn't see much/any coins minted by Bahadur Shah Zafar. Are those coins labelled something else other than Zafar?

2. Was the Emperor's name removed from the coins even before he was forcefully dethroned (1857-58)?

If one can share images before and after (if it's true).

Thanks

Hi,
By 19351835, BEIC stopped coins bearing names of Mughal kings (they were struck in name of Shah Alam II, long after his death, with a frozen date). They started their own coins with current king and queen of England. So in 1857, the most prevalent coins have name and image of queen Victoria.
That being said, coins of Bahadur Shah was struck for ceremonial purpose and by other states who by name, considered the Mughal king as their overlord.
This thread (Bahadur Shah Zafar coin at Indian Museum Kolkata) shows one such ceremonial nazrana coin whose validity was inside the court room of Delhi only.
This link (https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=159082) shows a coin from the Nizamat of Hyderabad in name of Bahadur Shah Zafar.
After 1857, as the Mughal kingdom got abolished, I think the coins stopped.
Thanks,
Saikat
