Wow!

Thanks for the image zoritos...I NEED this complete set in my collection. Is an interesesting thing to see two bimetallic coins with a face value under the Currency Unit, and with a value of just 2 and 4 euro cents.

A very nice and interesting coin series indeed. Also interesting that it does include the 25 cents denomination. I wonder which mint developed the series. I see that this is your first post on the forum, welcome and thank you for sharing this information!

From how the sketches looks, I would say that everything indicates that it is the British Royal Mint. Let's see...

Given the conflict between the 25 cent coin not being in the FAQ I tried to reach the URL given for the redenomination page on the central bank web site, but I find that the whole central bank site isn't responding. I get a 404 from:

I found http://bankofsierraleone-centralbank.org/ from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_of_Sierra_Leone but it doesn't appear to be a real central bank site. There's a blog entry with the title of "Removal of body hair".

Yes, unfortunately the Central Bank of Sierra Leone website is regularly temporarily unavailable.

Very interesting set, despite their low face value, which makes me fear that they will soon cease to be used... ::)

nice coins, but I would prefer animal designs on the coins.

Unfortunately they didn't use the beautiful coat of arms of the Sierrra Leone

chrisild

If the designs are supposed to be country specific, animals would probably not "work" well. As for the CoA, the current coins (100, 500 leones) do not have it either, and musical instruments - especially those connected to the artists - I like. But as mentioned here before, the face values of the new coins suggest they may not really be used anyway ...
