Wallis Simpson was the wife of King Edward VIII of the UK.

She was fond of stylish jewellery by Cartier.

Elsewhere our administrator Figleaf was discussing art nouveau and art deco styles on coins.

Do either of those styles apply to the jewellery shown above?

Being from Cartier around 1936, they are likely to be art déco and I humbly beg to agree. ;) Being by far not as moneyed, I am glad my wife prefers René Lalique for art déco stuff. His central idea was to popularise art by mass producing it. You can actually collect industrially produced genuine Laliques (e.g. his perfume bottles) at more or less affordable prices, because so many specimen remain.

Thank you, Figleaf. I did read a magazine article years ago about Wallis Simpson's jewellery. I remember a photo of a dragonfly brooch, too. As an animal-lover, I was intrigued by the stylish designs.
