New Caledonia, 50 francs, 1967.

Here we see New Caledonia's regular circulation 50 francs of 1967.

Ignore the 'essai' text on the obverse and you see the coin as it was issued.

The obverse and the reverse designs were the work of French sculptor Raymond Joly.

A pattern by Georges Guiraud was also produced dated 1967 but never issued.

The font is more regular than Raymond Joly's.

The design is similar to Joly's but more attractive.

It shows a native hut surrounded by pine trees and a palm tree,.

France, 10 francs, 1951.

Guiraud had designed the charming French circulation coins of the 1950s that featured a cockerel.
